The RefectoCil Story
RefectoCil traces its roots to 1930, when Viennese hairdresser Josef Gschwentner began formulating his own hair dyes after growing frustrated with the quality of products available at the time, working from a small studio in Vienna’s ninth district.
His formulas proved so popular that demand soon came from other hairdressers, leading Gschwentner to found what became Gschwentner Haarkosmetik. By 1950, the company had developed and launched RefectoCil, a dedicated cream tint for eyebrows and eyelashes.
Today the brand operates under GW Cosmetics, offering eight mixable tint shades, the Blonde Brow bleaching paste, a Sensitive range introduced in 2015, and styling tools such as Eyelash Curl, reaching salons and beauty professionals in more than 70 countries.
